    Yes, you need to take a childbirth class if you’re planning to have an epidural or if this is not your first birth.

    Our group classes are small enabling you to receive personal attention.

    4 – 5 hours long (depending on the amount of questions) $85 per couple

    4 hour - Private Classes $175 per couple

    Classes can be shortened to 2 hours by viewing a 2 hour DVD at home that covers breastfeeding, newborn care, postpartum care, and labor techniques. Our classes are taught by experienced educators who attend births on a regular basis. You will receive the information necessary to have an EASY LABOR!

    Internship Program

    This program is designed to give new Doulas and Massage Therapists the opportunity to receive hands on experience while having a mentor by their side. Let's just call it Pregnancy & Birth 101. You will learn the in's and out's of the whole pregnancy and birth experience; from pre-natal to postpartum. You will gain experience in office procedures, computer software, consultations, marketing, customer service, communication skills, with lots of hands on experience. You will be able to observe consultations, attend births and postpartum visits with Patti.

    To qualify for the internship program you must be personable, enthusiastic, eager to learn and willing to dedicate three months to the program. The internship program is quarterly and only a few candidates will be selected. If once selected a candidate is unable to fulfill their obligation to the program another candidate will be selected.     Before Attending the DONA Birth Doula Workshop I recommend the following:

    1.) Read – The Birth Partner, 3rd Edition by: Penny Simkin
    2.) Take a 12 hour Childbirth Class by an approved instructor at a local hospital or take The DONA 8 hour Introduction to Childbirth class offered the day before the DONA Birth Doula Workshop.
    3.) Order a DONA Birth Doula Certification Packet from DONA, International Go to www.dona.org to order packet and for further details on becoming certified.
